What are Real Numbers?
Real numbers in mathematics are a set of numbers that include all rational and irrational numbers, as well as other numbers that can be represented on a number line. In other words, real numbers are a superset of rational numbers (which can be expressed as a fraction of two integers) and irrational numbers (which cannot be expressed in the form P/Q).
Examples of RS Aggarwal Class 10 Chapter 1 PDF
- Integers (e.g., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, etc.)
- Rational numbers (e.g., 1/2, 3/4, -7/3, etc.)
- Irrational numbers (e.g., π, √2, e, etc.)
In class 10, students typically learn about real numbers as part of their study of mathematics. They may study the properties of real numbers, such as the order property (i.e., given any two real numbers, either one is greater than the other, or they are equal), the completeness property (i.e., every non-empty set of real numbers that is bounded above has a least upper bound), and the Archimedean property (i.e., given any two real numbers, there exists a natural number that is greater than both).
Additionally, students may also study the arithmetic operations with real numbers, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and the properties of these operations (e.g., associativity, commutativity, distributivity, etc.).
